Demystifying Mixed Media Day 1

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog, where I like to share all things creative I've been working on. Today I started day one of the new Altenew class Demystifying Mixed Media. Today's class was about watercoloring with embossing paste.

I did watch the video a couple of times to make sure I was getting the hang of it. I think my paint brush was a bit to big as my splatters came out huge instead of the little cute dots I was going for lol. Oh well, I'll just have to make another one!

I enjoyed using the 36 watercolor pan set from Altenew. I haven't used this one as much as my other set and really liked being able to choose a specific color and paint.

I have been watching a lot of videos the last few weeks and one lady uses thread a lot as accents under photos and images so I thought I'd give it a try with this blue twine. It matches quite well and I really like the extra texture it gives.

As you can see in this photo my splatters are more like splotches lol, that's okay though. Gives a bit of different look.

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!!!

  1. Hi Diana, I love your take on lesson 1 :) Sometimes the splotches might come out too large if your paintbrush is too loaded or too wet. The less wet your brush is, the finer your splatters :) Thank you for participating!

  2. Great share. I like the idea to use thread under the image(nice substitution). I'm still trying to figure out the splatter as well. Hopefully Tania's tip here can help.
