TSOT# 403

Hi everyone. Welcome to another great sketch challenge at Try Stampin' On Tuesday.  I just realized that I missed my last one! Oops. I totally don't know how that happened. Well, back at it today!!

Today's sketch is a fun one with an optional theme of EMBOSSING. I really like this sketch. The strip kind of reminds me of a bookmark.

Here is what I came up with. This took a bit of time for me and two tries to get one I really liked. I'm not sure why but I had a hard time with this one.  I guess I was still sleepy lol.

Here is a close up of my embossing. I stamped the hearts and then embossed them in a clear sparkly powder.

Many Thanks TSOT #399

I had a lot of fun with today's Try Stampin' On Tuesday challenge.  As soon as I saw this sketch I knew exactly which stamp set I was going to use.  The sketch is a mix up so there are so many different possibilities!!

I decided to do the sketch and to use the bright colors in the upper left hand corner of the photo. I love how vibrant they are and couldn't wait to get to it.

Here is what I came up with.  I love this many thanks stamp set from Catherine Pooler Designs. So versatile.

I popped up each layer to get a little dimension and to add interest.  I am loving my dimensional dots as of late. The only embellishment I added was a strip of silver glitter tape.  I'm really loving how this card turned out.

I Love You TSOT #394

Welcome to another fun sketch challenge at Try Stampin' On Tuesday! I had a lot of fun coming up with my card today.  I started out with just doing an embossed background and just started adding things.  I don't usually put so much on a card but this was a lot of fun!

Here is my finished card.  I did a lot of ink to paper this time.  I really liked how the unicorn starting popping once I added the two colors.  I tried embossing the sentiment but it just wouldn't turn out. Does embossing powder go bad?

Here is a close up of some of the different elements. The black circles have a little bit of glitter in them but is subtle enough to not take away from the glitter embossed roses.

Supplies:

Catherine Pooler: Roses stencil
                             Midnight ink
                             Rose petals ink
                             Skylight ink
                             Vintage peacock embossing powder
Jane Davenport: Happy Little Unicorn dies
Spellbinders: Fun Filled Rings dies
From stash: white cardstcock, pink cardstock

Another wonderful day for a sketch challenge at Try Stampin' On Tuesday.  Today's sketch is a square card.  I'm not usually one to make other size cards so this was a great challenge for me.

This sketch also has a optional theme: Metallic Madness

Here is my finished card. I used a couple of different "metallic" elements. My Base is a shimmer grey, then I added a mirrored red and the love you is embossed is silver.  I had a lot of fun with this card.

Merry Tree TSOT #386

Hi everyone! Welcome to another great sketch challenge at Try Stampin' On Tuesday.  This sketch was a bit of a challenge for me.  I ended up scrapping my first card and starting over.  You know how it is, something looks good in your head but not on paper.

Here is today's sketch and there is a BLING IT UP challenge along with it.  You can bling it or not. Your choice.

I decided to add just a bit of bling by using nuvo red slippers glitter drops as garland on my tree and a couple of drops on the background.  I used Spellbinders Christmas Tree etched die and Spellbinders fancy edged rectangle die to create my card.

I used a brush silver cardstock from Stampin' Up! to cut out the words.  I wish it was a bit more vibrant but in person it's so pretty. Just enough...

Now it's your turn.  Head over to TSOT and get crafting with us!

Glitter Technique Challenge TSOT!

This week I have the pleasure of doing the feature technique over at Try Stampin' On Tuesday.  I choose glitter and couldn't wait to get started.  Below is the tutorial on how to create a glitter background.  Make sure to head over to the website to see more and add your own glitter fun!!

Step 1: Get your favorite double sided adhesive paper. This is what I happened to have on hand.

Step 2: Peel the backing off your adhesive sheet and adhere to a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card base (I used white, but any color will work). Trim off the excess.

Step 3: Choose the glitter colors you'd like to use.  You can do as many or as little colors. I decided on two.

Step 4: Peel off the top protector on the adhesive sheet

Step 5: Start with your first glitter and sprinkle in random areas.  Making sure to "flick" off the excess after each pour.

Step 6: Finish by adding the second color and "flicking" off the excess after each pour.

Here is the finished sheet.  Now it's ready to finish decorating.

Here is my finished card using this amazing background.  I'm loving how it turned out and can't wait to see what you come up with!!

TSOT Color Challenge #5 All Things

This cards colors was a happy accident. What do I mean, well, I pulled out these colors and stamp set to create the card and happened to look at the design team challenge for this week and the colors matched! Great minds and all I suppose lol.

This is my favorite time of year and I love playing with these colors.  So many possibilities!

Here is my finished card.  I fussy cut out the leaves (after I already die cut them, I know, more work right) but I didn't want the white border that was around them.  This way I was able to "distress" them a bit and give them a little more depth.

Here is a closer look at the leaves and twine. Now it's your turn. Head over to TSOT and share your creation with us!

Supplies:
Stamp set: Zen Leaves Bundle,
Accessories: wood grain embossing folder, yellow twine and black pearls

Dream Believe Gratitude Journal

Hello.  Welcome to another sketch installment at Try Stamping On Tuesday.  I had a bit of a hard time deciding what I wanted to do with sketch.  Sometimes the mojo just takes a bit of a break.  Then I was watching a video from Fun Stamper's Journey and the inspiration hit (actually two videos).

I decided to take my project from a card to a notebook.  I love the idea of a gratitude journal and have wanted to start one for quite some time.  So my project will have a tutorial with it as well for you.

Here is the sketch

I found an old notebook that my kids didn't use for school and it's perfect for this sketch.

Step 1: Start with any size or shape notebook you want.  Make sure to remove any labels that may be on it (as I did here)

Step 2: Cut two pieces of cardstock to fit the cover (mine was 9 3/4x 7 1/2 inches). I also cut two pieces for the inside covers as well.

Step 3: Attach the pieces you cut to the cover of your notebook

Step 4: Open the cover and cut off any excess paper.  Mine had just a bit and rounded corners to remove.

Step 5: Choose a washi tape or ribbon (can also use cardstock, although it may be harder to attach) and run it over the edge of your notebook.  Make sure it's wide enough to go around the binding.  Trim edges after you've wrapped it around the binding.

Step 6: Add another layer of ribbon, cardstock or washi tape to give it a more cohesive look (as you'll see in the finished project I had to change to a different color for this as the black wouldn't stick)

Step 7: Start decorating your notebook as you'd like.  I love the oval with embossing. I used a dauber to add some color to the raised embossing to bring it out a bit more.  I then punched out the flowers and rolled the petals with my bone folder and layered them.

Here is a close up of the flowers. You can also see how I colored the embossing as well.
