Fab Friday sketch challenge

I've really been wanting to create some new cards and this sketch over at Fab Friday really inspired me today.  I have a friend that's been going through a rough time and after seeing this sketch a card idea for her just popped into my head.  I can't wait to see what she thinks when she gets it as a surprise in the mail this coming week!!

Here is the sketch

And here is the card I created for her...

And here is another card I created for a friend who just lost her grandmother...

Mother's Day cards...a bit late!

I totally forgot that I took pictures of the two Mother's Day cards I created until I uploaded my son's birthday photos!  I made these using Kiwi Lane templates and they came together super fast, since I made them the morning of (nothing like waiting till the last minute).

I didn't do much embellishing to these cards. I was just about finished with them and then I got called into work.  I'm so happy that both my Mother and Mother-In-Law don't really require flashy or dressed up things.  They loved them just the way they were.

Smiles

It is so hard to believe my little guy was ever this small.  He is soon to be 14 and he's about 4 in this photo.  He still has that sweet smile and loves to make us laugh.

It took me about two days to finish this one page layout.  I had such a hard time with figuring out what title I wanted and what embellishments to use.  Once I finally got that all figured out it went super fast.

I Miss You

I love using these templates from Kiwi Lanes Designs (which I'm sure you've figured out lol).  It makes creating so much easier and a lot of fun.  There was quite a while lately that I just didn't want to scrap or create cards.  I couldn't get in the groove.  These templates, and their sketches) have really helped jump start my creative brain.  I've gotten so much more done the last few weeks than I have in months!

I created this card for a current sketch challenge they are having on their blog.  I still don't have all the templates so I improvised for the stem and used chevron patterned paper instead.

Supplies: Tiny Wildflower 1T, 4T, chalkboard paper (my minds eye), bakers twine (stampin up), say it in style stampset (close to my heart), antique ink (tim holtz)

I also created this card for the same challenge just because I love playing with these templates lol.  They are really just to much fun!!

Supplies: tiny wildflower 2T & 5T, tiny accents 1T, 1/2" strip and Chevrons 3B, stampin up dsp, button and green bakers twine.

Two Card Designs

Here are two cards I created to show how to use the Kiwi Designs templates for scrapbooks when you don't have any card templates to use (hoping to add these soon lol).  I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out.  I've never used templates on cards before and they came together quite fast.

The templates I used are:
Baby card: chestnut drive 1B & 2 B, Adventure 1, 4, 6
Happy Birthday card: cascade trails 1A & 1B, Madison Avenue 3A, Tiny Bracket 1T

Autism Awareness Zoo trip

We love the zoo.  We go many times a year if possible and for any reason.  When we found out that The Brookfield Zoo was doing an Autism Awareness Day we couldn't wait to go.  We have two children that have be diagnosed with it so we support it fully.

I took so many photos this day that I still have a full container! I may add more layouts to this later but for now I'm done.  This first layout gave me a lot of trouble.  No matter what I did with it, it just didn't look right.  I finally just put everything down and glued.  I wasn't sure about it but now that its done, its a keeper.

I decided that this layout would only feature the pictures with my son in them.  I wanted to showcase how proud he was to be participating in the Awareness day and how happy he was to be there.  I think this will always be a place we can take him that will instantly calm him down and make him happy.

For both layouts I used Kiwi Lane Designs templates.  I have fallen in love with the look these create and how they help you use up patterned paper that you never thought you'd use.

Happy Easter

Here is a card I threw together this morning.  I created it for the challenge over at  The Paper Players and since it's Easter why not make an Easter card! I've recently started distressing the edges (again) and love the look of it.  It's an older technique but one I find myself going back to often.

This is the sketch for this week. Once I figured out what image I was going to use it just all came together.

It's a bit hard to see in the picture but I used a dotted embossing folder on the background to create some dimension.
Supplies:
SS: blessings4kitclub (the stamps of life), crazy about you (stampin up)
INK: pistachio pudding, calypso coral, coastal cabana, vintage photo, black memento ink
CS: light blue, dark brown, happy day dcp (my minds eye)
ACESS: dotted embossing folder, basic jewel rhinestones

Backyard Golf

This is the first layout I made using my new templates form Kiwi Lanes.  These were so fun to use and made the layout come together so fast.  I'm loving how polished the layout looks and it barely needs any embellishments.

The pictures themselves are the greatest but I couldn't pass up scrapping these.  My son got a kids golf set for his birthday and couldn't wait to use it the first nice day.  He had a blast playing and I was able to get some fun pictures.

Cross Over Challenge layout

I am so happy to be scrapbooking again!  I can't even tell you how much I've missed it.  My husband gave me a wonderful weekend retreat as part of my birthday present and it has ignited my creativity again.  I was able to get 16 full layouts done (pictures to come soon) and with my craft supplies now nicely tucked downstairs, where I'll use them more, I can't wait to pull out my supplies and get busy!

I decided to create this layout using a sketch from Kiwi Lanes.  I've heard of there wonderful templates before but just never took the leap into buying any.  At my weekend crop one of my table mates was using them and I just fell in love. When I got home I purchased my first few sets.  I love them.  They help make scrapbooking easier as well as helping to make nice clean looking layouts.

This is the challenge for this week.  It ends tomorrow (3/27/2016) so I got this in at the last minute.

Here is my two page spread.  I love how all the patterned papers work together.  This is the first layout that I've ever done and not added embelishments.  I just really don't think they are needed.

Supplies:
Paper: cranberry and chocolate cardstock, patterned paper
INK: tim holts distress ink vintage photo
Templates: clara lane, elements, adventure

Open Your Bible

While I was home on leave for surgery I got to browsing the web and found a great site that offers online and small group bible studies.  I have been looking for studies that I could do at home since with the work I do I'm not always able to go to church and do them on the nights they offer them.

LifeWay Christian Resources is where I found these great studies and they are offering a new one to come out on November 1st called Open Your Bible.  It's a 7 session study that gets you opening your bible and digging deeper into HIS word.

Click the link and check out this great new study.  #SRTOpenYourBible

Missing in Action!

So, I've been missing for quite some time and I wanted to share why.  For the past two years I've been fighting with my left wrist.  I injured it and have been having pain and problems ever since.  I've been seeing the doctor and he's been working to help me get back into the swing of things by doing shots and theraphy.  Unfortunately, this hasn't worked.  With the type of work I do I'm contantly using the hand and wrist and it just wasn't getting the time off it needed to heal.

I finally went in for surgery a week ago and already I'm feeling some relief.  I've started therapy, again, and hopefully at the end of the six weeks I'll have full use without all the pain.  I can't wait to get back to my craft closet and start creating again.  Expecially with the holidays coming up.  I love making cards and scrapbooking.  I've got so many pictures and I can't wait to scrap them.

Thanks for standing by and I hope to see all of you in craft world very shortly!!
